This site maps nine checkpoints on the required path, counting the missing House as a progression gate. Optional chats, notes, and achievements sit outside that list.

Nine checkpoints in two blocks. The computer block first: login, photos4em.zip, Orion, invite code. Then Other World: the House, the door, statues, the fountain, tributes. The walkthrough lists that order with the non-puzzle steps in between.

Four, and they all run off Liz's computer: the login password, the photos4em.zip code, the Orion ritual confirmation and the invite code. The House counts as the fifth gate, because nothing in Other World opens until it plays.
