Last Seen Online puts you in front of an old computer. The account, the photos and the notes belong to Liz. You are not solving a lab puzzle; you are reading a life that stopped mid-sentence.
Buddy List, LoseAmp, a zip of photos, a text file of dates, and a shortcut called Other World are the pieces she left in reach. Through them you meet Emily, Lawson, Orion and other names from her online life.
Other World is connected to people she knew on the computer. It is more than a chat window. What it finally does to Liz, and what the ritual costs, stays off this overview until you finish the game.
If you are still playing, use the walkthrough or the Other World guide. Come back here when you want the whole chain of cause and effect.

Liz
ConfirmedThe centre of the story. Every file on the computer is a remainder of her choices, her fear, and the people she could not take with her.
Emily
ConfirmedThe friend she actually runs to. Emily is one of Liz’s closest relationships, and she is the person the story tests when Liz has to name who she trusts.
Lawson
Strongly impliedA close friend from her everyday life. The files treat Lawson as the person her feelings never settled on, and his messages are how the story shows time passing after she stops answering.
Orion
ConfirmedThe old online friend who showed Liz Other World, stayed there with her, and eventually introduced her to Scott.
Scott
ConfirmedThe Other World contact who makes the ritual personal. He is the one who answers the question Liz is really asking.
Usernames, profiles and every timeline appearance live on the character pages.
Character guides →Gregg, Aurora, Sahra and Jorden appear as memorial portraits in Other World. They belong to the ritual’s first stage, not to Liz’s school circle.
Part I · 01
Liz Before Other World
Who was Liz, and what was her life like before all of this?
Before any of this becomes a ritual, it is an ordinary life. Liz keeps a notebook, gets photos back from a digital camera, falls behind on studying and spends most of her free time on the computer. The story starts small on purpose.
Two things matter in this stretch. She already recognises her own patterns — rereading her old notebook, she notices the same problems coming back around. And the computer is not a hobby in the background; it is where her friendships actually happen.
Who is Liz?
Liz is the person whose computer you sit down at. The login, the Buddy List, the photos, the notes and the Other World shortcut all belong to her life — not to a random puzzle box.
In the files she is a teenager who spends long hours online. Her Other World identity is alonegurl15. That name is not a separate character; it is how she appears in that space.
The game never hands you a biography. What you get is a person mid-life: a notebook she has just started, schoolwork she is behind on, friends she is close to, and a situation at home that keeps getting worse.

Loss, Fear and Isolation
What changed, and why did she become afraid of death?
Everything in this part follows one death. Liz learns from an online post that a schoolmate, Kev Ng, has died. The next day she writes that death is terrifying because a whole person can simply stop — every ordinary plan for tomorrow included.
After that the notes record a chain of consequences: a memorial visit with Emily and Lawson, an argument with her mother, the police being called, and a night at Emily’s house before an uneasy truce.
The notes give a clear sequence, even though they never write a year. After Liz starts the digital notebook and meets Orion, she learns that a schoolmate, Kev Ng, has died. The next day she writes that death is terrifying because a whole person — every plan for tomorrow — can simply stop.
That fear does not stay on the page. She visits a memorial with Emily and Lawson. She fights with her mother. She is reported missing. She runs away to Emily’s house, then comes home to an uneasy truce. Weeks later, with her mother away, Orion introduces her to Scott.
Liz's notes
“death is so scary to me”
A death close to Liz’s world
Her fear of dying intensifies
Other World becomes more meaningful
Scott introduces a possible way out
The ritual becomes the answer she thinks she is looking for
ConfirmedLiz explicitly writes about her fear of death after Kev Ng dies. The notes record the memorial, the fight with her mother, running away, and meeting Scott.
InterpretationThat fear appears to make the promise of permanence more attractive. One way to read the later ritual is as an attempt to escape a death that now feels unbearably close.

Scott, Orion and the Ritual
Who introduced Liz to the ritual, and why did she take it seriously?
Orion is not new here. He is the online friend who showed Liz Other World in the first place, and he stays in the story as the person who keeps that door open.
Weeks later, with her mother away, Orion introduces her to Scott. That is where the ritual becomes personal: Scott tells her it will not help her leave, but that he can show her forever. The story turns irreversible at this conversation.

Liz Enters Other World
What did Liz actually do, and what was she trying to get?
Her last dated note is the clearest statement she ever makes about why. She writes that she does not want to leave this world if the person she cares about is not beside her.
Then she performs the ritual. The game states the outcome plainly: she uploaded herself into Other World. In the story, Other World is not a level she finished — it is where she now is.

What the Player Finds
How do you, the player, end up reconstructing all of this?
You are not Liz. You sit down at someone else’s computer, and every file on it is a leftover. Nothing on the desktop explains itself, and nothing on it tells you what order it happened in.
That is the real shape of the game: the story runs on one line and your investigation runs on another. This part is where the two lines are finally put side by side.
The computer is the evidence, not the plot
The desktop is the layer of the story you actually touch. Buddy List keeps her relationships. Notes keeps the days she chose to write down. Photos keeps the faces she kept close. LoseAmp is her own music sitting next to those files. Other World is the room the rest of the story keeps circling.
Nothing on the machine is there to teach you a mechanic. Each icon is a way Liz used the computer, frozen at the moment she stopped using it that way.

The people she messaged, and the messages that continued after she stopped answering.
Notes
A digital notebook of month-and-day entries about school, family, Orion and death.
Photos
Pictures of Emily, Lawson and Liz — the personal record sitting beside the ritual files.
LoseAmp
Her own music library. In the story it is personal media; in the game it also hides a lock.
Other World
The central mystery on the desktop: the place she spent time with people she met online.

The Story Reaches the Ending
How does the story arrive at its ending?
Outside Other World, time keeps going. Players leave. Worlds built by players disappear once nobody is left in them, while Other World itself stays exactly the same.
The story closes on the difference between those two clocks. That is where this page stops — what Liz finally says about all of it belongs to the ending.
The game states the outcome in plain language. After a fight with her mother, and after a man promised her forever, Liz decided to upload herself into Other World.
Outside, people leave, grow old and move on. Other World stays the same, and the worlds players built for themselves disappear once those players are gone.
The ritual
Liz's transition into Other World
Time continues outside
Other people move on
Liz remains
Liz says she uploaded herself into Other World after being promised forever.
Other World persists while real-world players age, leave and move on.
That is the whole story up to the ending. What it means is a different question — and it is answered on the ending page.
The story ends here. The interpretation continues.
What does that ending mean?
Why does Liz end up afraid of forever? What did Lawson’s final message mean? Could the people inside Other World leave? Those questions belong on the ending page, not this one.

Read the Ending Explained →What is Other World?
Other World is not just another program on the desktop. Liz’s notes say Orion showed her a new game, and she started spending more and more time there. The invitation is social before it is anything else: a friend, a world, and people who stay logged in for hundreds of hours.
In Liz’s story it becomes the centre of gravity. School, her mother and even Emily sit further from the screen, and a place that does not close at the end of the day starts to sound like an answer.
alonegurl15 is the identity associated with Liz in Other World.
What was the ritual?
The ritual is the act Liz chooses once Other World and Scott are already in her life. In their chat she asks whether it will help her leave. Scott answers that it will not help her leave — it will move her consciousness into that space, and he can show her forever.
Inside Other World the ritual is a sequence of four acts you also perform as a player. In the story they are not minigames. They are the shape of the ceremony: remembrance, a blessing, a passage, and a personal offering.
This page does not list the order or the answers. If you are stuck on the acts themselves, both the walkthrough and the ritual answer guide are one click away.
01
Four Fallen
The opening act. Memorial portraits of people already gone, used as the start of the ceremony.
02
Statues
A blessing performed with the animal statues that share the house.
03
Fountain
A passage tied to a word on the fountain — in the story, a threshold rather than a password screen.
04
Tributes
The last personal choices of the ritual: who is named, and what those names cost.
The result of that sequence is Liz’s transition into Other World.
